What Is Bonzi Buddy  

The first time that Bonzi buddy was released was in 1997. When it was introduced at first it was represented as a green parrot, but afetr a while it took the form of a purple gorilla. It functions as a downlaod utility and had the ability to send email, perform web searches and curiously it had limited animation capability.
This program gained a very bad reputation as malware in a very short period, mainly described as adware with some spyware abilities .

Antivirus experts described Bonzi Buddy as a adware utility that posed a critical security threat, saying that it it was a critical infection that was downloaded with ease without the users knowladge.

Bonzi Buddy displayed chrastiristics that were associated with many adware applications. It made significant changes to Internet Explorer such as redirecting it to it's own website, a devious practice known as browser highjacking, it tried to connect to a remote server download updates and execute malicious code.

Bonzi Buddy affected several Microsoft platforms including versions 95, 98, ME, NT, 2003 and XP of the Windows operating system, it was voted sixth on the PCWorld Readers' list of "The Top 10 Most Annoying Tech Products". Beleaguered by major contention since it's origin, the Bonzi Buddy software was discontinued in 2005.
